Our lucky first prize winner from the 2019 Annual raffle had a lovely stay thanks to the Field family. Eileen and Peter wrote “With great thanks to the Wensleydale longwool Sheep Breeders Association for the raffle prize that my lucky husband won, it was a few days away in one or favourite places , Yorkshire.
It was fantastic to see a strong line-up of Wensleydales in the Pair of Purebred Longwool Lambs (Any weight) in the Butchers Lambs Sheep Classes held at Countryside Live. The final show of the season saw a good turnout of breeders at Masham Sheep Fair. Judged by Mr Allan Duffield he found his Champion in Mark Elliott’s Aged Ewe whilst reserve was Shelagh and John Prescotts Shearling Ram. Nicky and Pete Hodkinsons Shearling ewe took the Overall Wool on the Hoof Championship. Well done all

Congratulations to Charlie Dodd and the team at Merrist Wood College who recently took their Black Wensleydales to Findon Sheep Fair. Their shearling ewe not only won the Longwool Wool on the Hoof but also took the Overall Interbreed Wool on the Hoof Championship! (Click to enlarge!)
The season is drawing to a close with just Masham Sheep fair left in a fortnights time, today at Nidderdale Show judge E. Sherwin found his Champion in Mark Elliotts’ homebred shearling ram.
