Our 18th year at the Traditional and Native Breed show & Sale at Melton Mowbray Mart was held on the 10th/11th September. The Show was held on Friday 10th September, it was lovely to be able to show the stock again after missing this element in 2020 due to Covid.
The judge was Mr R. Field, Ferrensby and he found his champion in Sue Holdich’s 2 shear Ram Millhouse Starman. He went on to sell for 190gns. However, top price in the males belonged to the reserve champion, Mr D. Coe’s well-grown ram lamb who sold for 300gns to join Mark Elliotts Providence Flock.
David Coe claimed the highest price of the day with his Ewe lamb (also Female champion) by Ilkesthall Brexiter out of a home-bred Ewe. She sold for 380gns to C & E Stacey. Matching her for price was Sue Holdichs’ Black shearling Ewe by Millhouse Marvin who returned to County Durham with new breeder David Monkhouse. It was good to see such a busy ringside once again with many sheep returning to new members as well as established flocks.
