Cornish member Jenny Richardson runs a flock of Wensleydales near Newquay and managed to combine her passion (and also great promotion!) of the Wensleydale Longwool with her local Flower Festival, she writes;
“Here is a picture from a local flower festival I did last weekend ( I have done 6 different ones already) but this one was the one I really looked forward to doing. It was themed ‘Never a dull moment’ and I knew immediately that I would do my Wensley’s as the title so describes them.
I did it white with some darker leaves trying to depict their colours, printed my photo’s and put a crook in the pulpit BUT having seen all those wonderful fleece colours at Malvern (Anna’s note – Jenny and her husband visited the WLSBA Stand at the recent NSA Sheep event at Three Counties Showground) I filled a basket with all-sorts of coloured locks and it all looked amazing.
The number of people who hadn’t realised what a Wensleydale sheep looked like or what use their wool is – I had never spoken to so many people about my beloved girls and boys. I came home on cloud nine if a little hoarse!” (end)
