On the 7th/8th September 2018, the Traditional & Native Breeds Show at Sale was held at Melton Mowbray with a Wensleydale section run by the WLSBA offering 16 Wensleydales for sale.
Congratulations to Mark Elliott (Providence Flock) who took not only the Wensleydale Championship but also the Overall Interbreed Championship against some 20 other Breeds all holding their sales at the same event. Mark Elliotts’ Shearling ram also then played off against the Interbreed Cow Supreme, Pig Supreme and Goat Supreme finishing Reserve Supreme of the event (just beaten by the Cow!).
Top price at the next days’ sale belonged to the Interbreed Champion fetching 300gns sold to C.Stacey, the reserve champion (J.McHardys’ Ram lamb) reached 200gns sold to new Wensleydale breeders I.Kemp & H.Adkins from Ceredigon, Wales. Top price female belonged to S.Holdich shearling ewe attaining 230 gns.
