I’Anson Feed Mill Tour – Upcoming WLSBA Event

Members are invited to attend an exciting tour of the new I’Anson feed mill near Thirsk in North Yorkshire on Wednesday the 22nd of October 2025 at 10:30am. The tour is scheduled to last for around 2.5 hours and includes a Wensleydale specific nutrition talk as well as coffee and cake. If there’s enough interest, the tour will be followed by a social gathering at a nearby pub. If any members wish to attend the tour, the gathering afterwards or both, please let Jodi know by the 1st of September.

I’anson is a fourth generation run feed manufacturer founded in 1900 and based in Masham, North Yorkshire. The new state of the art feed mill near Thirsk has been designed by Dutch milling specialists Ottevanger, costing more than £20m and taking 2 years to construct. The new factory has helped the business to meet growing demand, producing over 30 tonnes of feed per hour and a staggering 150,000 tonnes of feed per year.

The business is recognised as one of the leading UK animal feed manufacturers, specialising in compound feeds for livestock. I’Anson works with local farmers to source their raw materials, creating a strong market in the region, while the new factory has also successfuly created new employment
opportunities for the local area. As most of the membership have their ewes and rams running together by October, I’Anson have also agreed to do a talk dedicated to feeding the pregnant Wensleydale ewe ahead of lambing time, preceded by a tour of the new facility itself. As always, if you have an idea for an event that you think would appeal to other Wensleydale members please do let Jodi know! We are keen to arrange fun, interesting and (importantly!) social events that bring our membership together.
